1. Overview

The Sort & Visualize application itself runs entirely in your browser — we operate no user accounts, no database, and no server-side processing of your information. We do, however, rely on third-party services such as Google AdSense (advertising) and Google Fonts, which may use cookies and collect limited technical data as described below.

This Privacy Policy explains what data is involved when you use Sort & Visualize, including the role of cookies and third-party providers. We are committed to transparency and to keeping our own data collection to a minimum.

2. Data We Collect

We do not directly collect, store, or transmit personal information on our own servers. Specifically, Sort & Visualize itself:

All sorting computation (algorithms, animations, audio) happens locally in your browser, and your activity within the tool never leaves your device. However, third-party services we embed — in particular our advertising partner (Google AdSense) and Google Fonts — may independently collect limited technical data such as your IP address, device and browser information, and interaction signals. This is covered in sections 3 and 4 below.

3. Cookies & Local Storage

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. Sort & Visualize does not set its own cookies for tracking or profiling. However, third-party services running on this site — most notably Google AdSense — may set and read cookies on your device to deliver and measure advertising.

Specifically, Google and its partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can learn more about how third-party vendors use cookies at www.aboutads.info. Your browser may also cache static assets (HTML, CSS, fonts) for performance — this is standard behaviour and contains no personal data.

When you first visit Sort & Visualize, a cookie consent banner will appear. You may accept or reject non-essential cookies. Your preference is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key "sortlab-consent". Essential cookies required for the site to function are always active. Advertising cookies (used by Google AdSense) are only activated after you provide consent.

4. Third-Party Services

Advertising (Google AdSense). We use Google AdSense to display advertisements that help keep Sort & Visualize free. Google is a third-party vendor that uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits. You may opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings. For details on how Google handles data in its products, see the Google Privacy & Terms page.

Advertising (Google AdSense). This site participates in Google AdSense, an advertising program operated by Google LLC. Google AdSense uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) and web beacons to serve advertisements based on your prior visits to this and other websites. These cookies allow Google and its partners to serve ads based on your browsing history. You may opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info/choices. For more information about how Google uses data, visit Google's Privacy & Terms page.

Fonts. Sort & Visualize loads typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com), so your browser requests these files from Google's servers. Google's privacy policy applies to that interaction.

Aside from Google AdSense and Google Fonts, we do not knowingly load other analytics platforms or tracking services. We have no control over the data practices of these third-party providers.

5. Children's Privacy

Sort & Visualize is intended for a general audience — primarily students, educators, and developers — and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because advertising networks such as Google AdSense may use cookies, we do not encourage use by children under 13 without the involvement of a parent, guardian, or teacher. If you believe a child has provided personal data through any third-party service on this site, please contact us so it can be addressed.

6. Changes to This Policy

If we ever change our privacy practices, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date at the top. We will always maintain a commitment to minimal data collection and full transparency.

7. Contact

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please reach out via our Contact page. We will respond to all privacy inquiries promptly.
